Enrollment

As a Magnet school, Lone Tree Elementary is an all Open Enrollment school. All students, Kindergarten through 6th grade, are accepted on a space-available basis. The application process applies to all students new to the school regardless of grade level. LTE follows the Douglas County School District (DCSD) guidelines and time frame. The public schools of DCSD are open to all children of the district. Any student in the county may apply to attend any DCSD school with space available. Most students attend their neighborhood schools, but the district also offers option schools, magnet schools, charter schools, online programs, home-education programs and partnerships, and contract schools to serve the needs of each student.

Information Specific to Lone Tree Elementary Magnet School

  • The acceptance process begins according to space availability. This is not a first-come, first-served process.

  • The order of priority is as follows:

    • Children of District Staff

    • Siblings of students already enrolled at Lone Tree Elementary

    • Residents of Heritage Hills

    • Residents of Douglas County School District boundaries.

    • A lottery system, as needed

Acceptance to LTE - A child's acceptance is based on space availability and the above priorities. Once you have an offer of enrollment via Open Enrollment, you will need to complete online registration by the deadline given in the offer. If it is not completed by then, you will be put back on the waitlist and a spot is not guaranteed. Wait lists do not roll from year to year and are purged on August 1 of each year.

Leaving LTE and Returning to a Neighborhood School - Once enrolled, Lone Tree Elementary becomes your home school until matriculation or enrolling elsewhere, you do not need to open enroll a student annually. If you want to return to your assigned neighborhood school you must submit an Intent to Return by January 5th of the year you intend to return. Otherwise, open enrollment will be required for enrollment at another district school and is based upon space availability.
